「2020台北國際電玩展」為獨立遊戲開發者量身打造的「INDIE GAME AWARD」，初審歷經一個月的全球參賽團隊互評，最終選出 30 款作品進入決賽，分別來自台灣、中國、日本、韓國、印尼、泰國、法國、美國、瑞士、加拿大、馬來西亞等 11 國。
參賽遊戲數量持續成長 INDIE GAME AWARD成獨立遊戲開發者指標性獎項
為支持獨立遊戲開發者的創作能量，INDIE GAME AWARD 自 2015 年舉辦以來已頒發出《RPG TIME：The Legend of Wright》、《Replica》、《返校》等傑出作品。本屆共計 17 國 141 款遊戲參與初選，且相較於往年，本次劇情類作品比休閒類來的更多。入圍 30 款遊戲中包含許多曾獲得國際獎項的作品，有充滿復古像素風格的《風來之國》由中國皮克皮工作室開發，榮獲 Official Selection of Nintendo Indie World 2019 殊榮，預計明年登陸 Nintendo Switch 平台。馬來西亞 Kurechii《國王聯賽II》可以體驗超過 30 種職業戰士的攻防戰，在 2014-2017 年陸續拿下由 Google Play、各大遊戲展會與媒體頒發的最佳遊戲。瑞士團隊 Indoor Astronaut 開發可以挑戰默契與友情底線的鐵軌建造遊戲《Unrailed!》；法國 Tako Studio《Minimal Move》以精緻的 3D 建模技巧贏得 2018 法國 Indie Game Factory 評審特別獎（Coup de cœur du jury），透過翻轉立體空間概念與夥伴來場燒腦的行星冒險。
2020 INDIE GAME AWARD 將進入複審階段，邀請國內外資深遊戲媒體、知名製作人進行評選，最後選出「最佳劇情」、「最佳美術」、「最佳音效」、「最佳遊戲設計」、「最佳創新」、「最佳VR遊戲」、「最佳手機遊戲」、「最佳遊戲」、「贊助商特選獎」等九大獎項，明年電玩展開展首日將在 INDIE SALON 舞台舉行頒獎典禮，目前預計有超過 200 家開發團隊參與，有計畫尋找開發合作產業人士可申請商務參觀，登錄系統開放至 2020 年 1 月 31 日截止。
